Renovations officially kicked off today on the historic 1924 Hotel Niagara.  Once complete, the renovated 160-room hotel will feature a fully restored ballroom, rooftop bar, several restaurants, and a sports bar.  Local officials were on hand to mark the occassion.  The project is being undertaken by Brine Wells Development LLC, which successfully led the $75 million restoration of the Hotel Syracuse.  Like the Hotel Syracuse, the Hotel Niagara will also be part of the Marriott hotel group.  The project carries a $42 million price tag and will be assisted by $10.6 million in state and federal historic preservation tax credits and an $3.5 million in state grants.
